Squam Lake Natural Science Center

Squam Lake Natural Science Center
Join us at Squam Lake Natural Science Center to learn more about the flying creatures we will be studying this year. We will arrive around 10 am. The classes below begin promptly at 10:30 am. Pack a lunch so you can stay longer and explore the live animal nature trails with lots of New Hampshire wildlife.  After the classes, we will enjoy a picnic lunch together, then explore the trails. Plan at least two hours to walk the 3/4 mile live animal exhibit trail which meanders through open meadows, mature forests, and marsh boardwalks on a packed gravel path.

K - 5th "Have to Have a Habitat: Bugs and Birds"
Students will participate in a natural science education program called "Have to Have a Habitat": Animals live everywhere around us, but no matter where they live they all require the basic needs of food, water, shelter, air, space, and sun. See three different live animals and learn how each meets its habitat needs. In addition to the natural science education program, students will also have full access to all of the trails and animal exhibits at Squam Lake (normally $15).
Optional: If you have a 3 or 4 year old who you would like to attend this program as well, please register them for the $8 option, rather than the $7 trail only option.

6th - 12th "Eyes of the Wild: Hawks and Owls"
Students will participate in a natural science education program called "Eyes of the Wild". Peer into the raptor world through an up close experience with live hawks and owls that call New Hampshire home. Compare the fascinating similarities and differences between hawks and owls to discover how they are perfectly suited to the habitat niche they each fill. In addition to the natural science education program, students will also have full access to all of the trails and animal exhibits at Squam Lake (normally $15).
